Welcome to the
Locking
Stumps
Community
Primary School
website
and thank you for considering our school for your child.
Our school aims are rooted in the celebration of the achievements and
talents of all of our children. Our Ofsted Report (July 2007) began with the
line “Locking Stumps provides its pupils with an outstanding all round
education.” This demonstrates the importance that our school attaches to all
aspects of our children’s development.
At Locking Stumps, we recognise the importance of the key skills. In 2008,
we received our second Basic Skills Quality Mark. Our curriculum places
emphasis on literacy and numeracy and we are proud of the high standards our
children achieve in these areas. However, our children also experience a broad
and varied range of activities, both in and out of school time. We currently
also hold the Healthy Schools Award and the Activemark and are working towards
Arts Mark and the ICT Mark. We celebrate the achievements of our children in
all areas.
The school building was extensively remodelled in 2003, altering from an
open plan design to traditional classrooms. The school playground was also
redesigned (by our children) at that time, but our children have told us that
it needs further development. As a result, we will be making a significant
investment in the playground during 2008-9. A redevelopment of the main
entrance and administration area of the school, together with the Community Use
areas was completed in October 2008.
This website aims to give you an insight into life at Locking Stumps and how
children are educated and valued here. However, I would also encourage a visit
to the school (including a guided tour from some of our children) to see it in
action. Should you wish to visit or to discuss any aspect of the education
provided at our school, please do not hesitate to contact the school office to
arrange an appointment.
Our staff and governors have positive and cooperative partnerships with
parents. Through working together, I believe that Locking Stumps will provide a
very good start to your child’s school life.
I look forward to meeting you.
